Sunset at the AeroPAC launch site.

One person takes advantage of the night launch waiver having opened,
even though it isn't quite dark yet.

Dusk at the Black Rock Desert.

A rocket sits on the pad with its lights on.

Little by little, the pads are filling up as people get ready for the
night launch.

Night launches are spectacular sights.
I snapped just a little late on this one.
The shutter didn't open until the rocket was already in flight.
The smoke trail goes all the way to the ground while the
rocket streak only starts where the shutter opened.

Here's another one where the shutter opened after the rocket was off the
ground. So the streak starts well above the pad.

Sunset, moon and stars over the Black Rock Desert.

Electronics data is downloaded to a laptop for analysis after flight.

A beautiful red streak on a rocket's night flight.

After the first batch of rockets are launched, the LCO opens the range
so more people can bring their rockets out to the pads.
This cycle will continue through the night launch until either
the FAA-issued airspace waiver closes, or no one has any more rockets
ready to fly, whichever comes first.

A nice straight red streak from Pad 24.

You can tell this was a bright one because it illuminated the next row
of launch pads too.

Another bright one...

This one was probably knocked over a bit by a gust of wind as it got
off the rail. But it straightened out nicely as it gained speed.

Erik Ebert's rocket doesn't just have lights - it has a laser.
The squigly line on the ground is where the laser wandered during the
13 seconds that the shutter was open.

And now with the flash on, you can see Erik holding his rocket.

A nice bright red straight launch.
And the camera picked up some stars in the sky too.

A nice night launch from Pad 17.

You can see in the dark that some sparks came off of this one.

A beautiful finale for Saturday's night launch.
