Prof Twiggs' grandson waves as preparations go on behind him to pull
the truck out of the mud.

Preparations for the rescue...
David James' rescue vehicle is on the right.
All the stuck vehicles are visible left of it.

Professor Twiggs' truck is freed from the mud.

Mike fills in the hole left where the vehicle had been stuck.

David keeps towing Prof Twiggs' truck until it's completely clear of the
soft surface.

Prof Twiggs' grandson and Stanford student Sean take a breather after the
first vehicle is out of the mud.

A problem is found...

...brake fluid is slowly leaking on David's truck.
We're all watching closely in case he'll need our help.
(It turned out not to get in the way of the rescue effort.)

Now they're hooking up the tow strap to Paul's vehicle.

Paul's vehicle starts moving again.
David's son Michaelangelo watches in the foreground.
In the background Sean (from Stanford) and Bryan (from Cal Poly) watch -
though both attend different universities,
they know each other because they're participants in
Prof Twiggs' Aerospace Engineering "CubeSat" program
building satellites for launch to orbit.

The vehicles stop while Mike checks the surface conditions.

The other trucks are parked at a safe distance as the rescue is going on.

Paul's vehicle is free.
He parks it next to the others.

Sean's truck is in the worst position, farthest into the mud.
We're preparing expecting this to be the most work.

David slowly backs up checking whether the mud is getting any worse for him.
As before, his oversize tires are just what this situation calls for and
he has no problems.

Sean's truck is now moving out of the mud.

Paul watches as it looks like the rescue is going to succeed this time.

Sean's truck is slowly getting out of the mud.

Still under tow just in case, Sean's truck is actually under it's own
power again. We won't remove the tow strap until he'd completely clear
of the mud.

David's truck (right) continues pulling Sean's truck away from the mud.
